Why Do Bad Things Happen?

Isn't the very idea of evil something God should stop?

These are the questions some people use to discredit God. After all, how can an all-powerful being allow evil to exist in the world? I have heard people use this reasoning as the deal-breaker for why they can't follow God. I understand that view, but it is wrong.

2 Peter 3: 9 "The Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance."

God wants all of His creation, all of us, to come to know and follow him. The time we have in this world is compared to the wind. Extremely temporary. The King, the creator of the universe, is concerned about the end game. He is in control.

1 Timothy 2: 1-4 "First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth."

Christians are to be praying for all people who do not know God, and God desires their salvation. The question remains, though, why doesn't God end evil? If a man dies away from God, he will be separated from God forever. It seems like evil and death away from God is something that a loving God would want to end. When Adam and Eve sinned in the Garden of Eden, the separation began. Evil will end, but God is calling all to repentance.

God is Holy. He had conquered sin and death when Christ died and rose again. We see the evil because he is patient wanting all to come to know him. Adoni will not let sin remain in the world, and judgment will come.

Evil will end.

To deny God based on evil in the world is to remain evil and separated from the truth. God provided a way for us to get out of being corrupt and have eternal life with nothing but holiness. Answering the original complaint of why God allows evil is that he will not allow it, but he also doesn't want us to remain wicked and gives those who need knowledge of the truth time to find it.
